I really hate automatics. I truly have no idea what I’m doing.

Some of the positive stuff. I washed it before I had a bloodbath.

Now that I’m back at work, and some of the atf is off of my body….

This really is a good looking truck.

Just needs a 5 speed soon. The automatic is not trying to charm, but that’s not in its nature.

I’ll just leave this here.

Is this from City Racer? I just ordered what I thought were Aisin master and and wheel cylinders from CR, but what they sent were Advics - though if I recall, the casting itself says "Aisin." I will confirm that when I get home.

[edit: unless I'm completely dense and totally misunderstood the meaning of your post.]

Same company in regard to the aisin/advics. Both top quality.

This is a rock auto order.

The future bodes well for you. Since I fixed the low power issue with my 3FE equipped '86 FJ60 a few days ago, my wife and I have been enjoying the raw power (ha!) of the fuel injected engine once freed from the shackles of the automatic transmission. I bet I could make it up Imogene Pass in 2WD after all.

My idol.

I know the architecture is kinda the same but the 3FE is so much smoother and faster to rev. This will be perfection.

I may be crazy, but I would 2FE my 60 in a heartbeat right now.

For later, just thinking out loud.

60 series pedal assembly
3F Bellhousing (Got one)

Bellhousing Bolts- Some from A440F and some McMaster Carr from @4Cruisers Class 10.9 Steel, M12 Thread, Pitch: 1.75, 40mm Long (need to be shortened)
2F Flywheel (Original to my 60)
2F Flywheel Bolts (Need to measure some laying around)
Clutch Aisin CKT-032
Clutch Hydraulics
-Aisin CMT-032 Master
-Aisin CKT-021 Slave

-Clutch Line by JTO braided one piece
H55F from a local buddy
@torfab Transmount Brackets
Late Crossmember from an 85 FJ60

Transmission Plate from from a 60
Shifter Boots (need to find a source)
Shifter
T case
City Racer Shift Knob (a must)
Late 60 Driveshaft from my 60 (spare)

Will leave front DS out for now.
H55F shifter Handle- 33530-60160
Transmission Mount- 12371-61031

Rear main oil Seal (3FE)- 90311-99005
T-case rebuild kit on the Vacuum shift 38mm case via terrain tamer parts

Almost forgot the 85-87 clutch fork.

One of the best threads about a 62 and also about the swap to an H55F from @EscapeWagon62

I'll be reading over it a few times.

I have transmission and t-case shifter boots. Shoot me a PM

This is where things get really geeky. This is something I've wanted to do for a while. A friend talked me into it. The oil on this 62 is nasty, the crankcase was abused. The engine was literally locked up. The oil was so crusty that the lifters were stuck and the rocker shaft was frozen solid. The 3FE should have died, and for it not being broken I want to give it a shot at life.

I put a quart of ATF in with the last oil change and the engine is quickly moving debris around again. This is a very slippery slope. I don't want to tear into this engine at all now that it's running right. A friend is giving me 10 gallons of 10w40 he doesn't want to use, so I'm going to get a few hundred miles on each with a 1/3 mix of oil/atf and diesel in the crank case.

In the meantime, I ordered something I've wanted to try for a long time. It's a dual filtration system for the oil. The big filter gets everything above 20 microns and the little one does below 20 microns in a diverted flow set up. It filters small portions at a time while not having the big filter lose a significant amount of flow.

Pics are stolen/borrowed from Bypass Oil Filter: Pareto Point "Top Dog V" - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bypass-oil-filter-pareto-point-top-dog-v.668457/

After working in forensics for a very long time and looking at things under a microscope for a living, it bothers me to know that this crusty sludgy oil is moving around in the crank case. I like going for bragging rights on the stupidly high mileage of my trucks, so its very likely the 60 will get one soon as well.

My current filter of choice isn't the 15600-41010 (which is still the king, but too expensive to use). I like the Hengst H17W02. It's really heavy and made in Germany. It's got a nifty nut on the top.

Finally got my new TPS sensor. Had to order from Amazon because vescovo is out of the online parts business and canceled my order without telling me.

I’ll try to recalibrate the tps with my new Klein multimeter to maybe smooth the idle out. Got come fancy feeler gauges too.

I use my old analog multimeter for one of the calibration steps, it's easy to tell by the needle when the resistance just goes to infinity. I use my digital multimeter for the other measurements.

Aisin/Advics same company

A few more pieces are on order for the 5 speed swap. Mostly the hard to get things.

Progress is being made.
