Why replace 2H injectors when you can just put in a 12HT

My recently finished (use the term finished lightly) FJ45 Ute with 2H conversion was waaay underpowered. I've had 2H's before and I knew something was not quite right. Seemed very unresponsive and once I got into 3rd gear, it would only build speed at its own pace. Lack of power was confirmed when my brother overtook me in 4th gear (I was already down to third) with power to spare.

So started looking into it. I check the fuel primary filter. Fuel secondary filter is new, air filter new, checked the valves and apart from a couple of minutely worn rockers it was pretty good. Last thing really was injectors. So pricing on injectors was gonna be $550 - I dont want to buy cheapies off ebay for $350 because I have had problems with every ebay part I have bought for this truck.

Up came a 60 series with blown gearbox and rusted body, but with a 12HT.

So I will be picking that up today or tomorrow and starting a changeover after I get back from my honeymoon in October.

Just posting cause I'm excited and thought I would make a couple of you blokes a bit jealous.

I'm sure I will need a bit of help along the way, so I will be doing a comprehensive thread on the changeover...

Yep, checked the 12ht. Couldn't drive it cause the gearbox was broken but from all other checks I know it seemed fine. Turbo needs new seals, but apart from that it seemed great - but you never know, it could prove me wrong!

I'm actually toyong with selling my 45 and getting the 60 on the road. I love my ute but we are planning on kids soon and the 60 would be much more practical for that - but ute is also necessary for work so not sure yet.

Hahaha - there is no way my fiancé will drive a Landcruiser! Currently she drives a little VW Gti, and has her eyes firmly set on a Toyota kluger.

I am tending towards fixing the 60 - only when I bought it I didn't even loom at the rust in the body. I do t think it was too bad but I'll find out tomorrow. Best thing about the 45 is it has not one ounce of rust - absolutely completely removed every rusted section. I hate rust!
