    Hey everyone,
Has anyone else noticed that Mud is painfully slow in the morning? Right now it is 7:44 AM eastern time and each page is taking at least 1-2 min to open. It only seems to be doing this in the morning, anyone have any ideas?

we've been looking into it for months, trying to find some consistent theme...it's not every morning, and it never happens at the same time. the logs don't show anything either...frustrating....

Relocated both servers to a different rack tower and added a UPS...that seemed to help some, but the router issues from this weekend may still be causing current issues.

I have a 3rd server to get installed in the next few weeks...this one will serve ONLY images from the site...covering the tech pages, the forum, and the gallery. That will take additional load off the front-end web server and alleviate any bottlenecks there.

This latest one is a quad-processor 700mhz Xeon, dual power, 6gig of memory, and will most likely have four 18g SCSI drives...

the db server (quad 900mhz, quad 18g SCSI's) is upgrading from 6g of mismatched 512/256 memory to a full 8g of 512 memory - that was ordered last week and should be delivering/installing soon.

for the non-geeks ;) - "we know, and are working on it"

hhhmm...hard drive shoppin this morning....that's dangerous...

may switch the db server from 18g10k drives to 18g15k drives (db is only 2g or so anyways)...

then pop in four 36g 10k drives for the image server...gotta decide on raid config for that one too, since full mirroring isn't necessary like the db...

    decisions decisions....

DROOOOOOL!!! Would there ever be a chance I could see these servers in person. I wish my server was half as nice as any of those
