Here in Iowa, my house was twice as big, and 1/11th the cost. With Hardwood floors, dining room, wood moldings, etc...

    yeah, that's ****ing retarded.

I really dislike people that try to do that to the market. Good for now, bad for later.

Selling my place, closing on Friday. 3300 finished square feet, 5 bedrooms, 3 bath, 2 years old, brick front, walk-out basement, 3 acres, needs nothing, etc..............$210k.

Can't get any cheaper than my area.

I was thinking about selling my house here in Colorado. $210,000 approx and that will get you 744 square feet and a crappy shed (garage)in the back. I really want to move to a house with a garage...

This would be worth at least $500k in my neighborhood, prolly closer to $650k.

In Alabama that house would cost you maybe 60K depending on the county...

    Sucks for who?

If I had a house that could be built for $60K, could bring $600K, that would be great!

It's all a matter of perspective...

So it's bad to sell a home for what the market deems to be a fair price? If it's over priced, it won't sell. The price is what it is.

If you want cheaper housing, move to s***sville, Arkansas. I'd suggest Buggerville, New Jersey, but I don't know that you'd necessarily like your neighbors...

See thats why I live in Ontario (North) .. I could afford that small retirement home, AND probably my 52 foot Nordic Tug, with change to spare.

Some parts of Beloit, you could have that baby for like $15,000! With iron bars on the windows, too.

In a nice part of town, $60,000 TOPS.

I wouldn't pay that even if I had it. Real estate speculation sux for buyers, man, I feel your pain.

OTOH, if you have that kind of money, you can get a 3,500 sq. ft. NEW house here in Central Texas, with a 4-car detached garage and built on fenced-in 2.5 acres so your dogs can run.

Unless you have an overwhelming desire to live close to Martha Stewart....

The neighbor just sold a 1400 sq.ft. 3 bed / 2 bath for $495,000 in 3 days. It was a deal at that price, and we're in the area of the Bay Area that's still reasonable. In Martinez, Ca. we're framing houses that size next to a crack neighborhood and they're going for $800,000. Scary.

Looks like a bargain compared to the listing directly above it.

I do hate not having a garage. But the guest bedroom isn't so bad for the toolchests. I've had a hard time finding the 1500 SF house with 5 car garage that I really need.

Do as the man says and you will find what you seek. :D
