So, I went wheeling yesterday. While waiting for the rig in front to move, a complete stranger jumped in front of Agent Orange, my 81 BJ42, and started reefing on the front end, in an effort to open up the hood.

Fortunately, the dim-witted yahoo didn't realize that the entire front clip is bolted together. To open it up you need to flip up the whole front end - not an easy task when I'm situated down hill...

Anyway, I got pissed off and told him to stop what he was doing and that I'd show him the diesel transplant back at camp.

I guess I kinda felt a little violated at the time...as though it had been a stranger walking up and trying to gawk under my shirt....

Was I too sensitive? I know I would never go up to a truck of a complete stranger and do that. Whatcha figure?

He's an idiot. I can't imagine trying to pop somebody's hood, or anything else, without their permission. In some circles it'd be a good way to get the living hell kicked out of you.
You should have popped the clutch...

Well I voted No, but No and I'd ask Permission First aren't really exclusinve. Between those two it'd depend on the circumstances. I'd be pissed if some stranger did that to mine in a parking lot or somehting.

You were correct to be offended, Charla.

I've had idiots check out my truck and pop the hood in my driveway while I was at work. The neighbors tell me about it when I get home. I can't imagine having the gall to open a stranger's hood in their driveway.

And this moron did it with you sitting at the wheel? He couldn't just ask to look under the hood?

I don't understand people these days. They act like children and have no concern for others. I think more of them need the type of "belt" discipline that my Dad dispensed.

    ok, cool

Thanks. At the time I didn't want to throw a complete bitch-fit at the guy since I was with a group of wheelers I didn't really know and was there by myself. The only dude I really knew in the group was busy testing out his new tires in some mud.

Now to be like George Constanza and try to think up things I would've said to the guy, after-the-fact. Next time I'll be prepared!

    Here's where we went.

Should have mashed the horn button.
When you mentioned the guy was reefing, I thought he was smoking the good stuff in front of you.
And THAT would have explained his behavior. :D

Yeah. Whole impression of him was less than stellar. He got there late and then Prado, my 5month old puppy, jumped up on him (I'm trying to teach her not to do that) and he yells at her "Get the %^%k off me or I'll beat you!!" Ok, whatever... she shouldn't have done that.

Later, he proceeds to drive his Rubicon off the trail, way up in the alpine which was definitely not cool.

    And then the hood incident.

So. Ignorant yahoo. I'll leave it at that.

Then you should have mashed the horn button and then said "get the f_k off my hood or I'll beat you down." :D

But then you should always pick your battles - who knows the group could have been tight buddies for him to say the f word and threaten your dog.
