Who knows about BMW?

Obviously we are a biased group but the overwhelming majority of negative comments only reinforces my initial concerns about the BMW. If you've got plenty of extra money and consider it a toy, go for it. If this is the primary family car for the wife, absolutely not. I'll tell her she can get one when she goes back to work (when the kids are all grown up and on their own in ~12 years). Hopefully I'll convince her we "need" an S2000 about this time and I won't have to worry about BMW issues.

I'm going to attempt to convince her to get comfortable driving the Hundy. Then we can keep the current Accord and only spend a little more on fuel. And when some A-Hole rear ends that while she and kids are in it, I'll just have to do a little paint touch up instead of enduring the 2 years of misery Danise has been through since the accident in '08.

If you go with this plan you can put some of that money into front and rear ARB bumpers. Maybe a few inches of lift, and you can build the sliders you are designing. Then when the A$$ hole hits the hundy from any direction, they will be totaled and your CD player wont even skip. Your damage can be mitigated with three swipes of a rattle-can.

LOL, ya think? Just for the record, I don't think Toyotas are the end all to be all kind of vehicles as I like lots of other makes and models. But, European cars are a "different" breed, if you know what I mean :D

Now, THAT my friend is a logic I subscribe to. :bounce:

I've been reading this with interest. In 2000 I bought my wife a gently used '99 Mercedes ML320 SUV. Sold it in '09. Nice car. Never gave us any trouble. With that said, and I don't know if this applies to other Euro cars, even regular service was an expense nightmare because you can't touch one of these things w/o a boatload of proprietary Mercedes tools. If this is rue of your considered BMW, I'd stay away. I hate it when I have to have someone else work on my junk. When some guy has had to invest in a giant SnapOn box full of specialty tools and probably diagnostic equipment and software, he usually wants to see some return on his investment. Better somebody else than me, or you.
