Vvti 275hp @ stock
Non vvti with headers and exhaust +10% or 258hp :meh:

I have own both

Once I get it on the dyno I will post the results, but I'm pretty confident I picked up more than 10%.

Additionally I do know that the VVT-i motor had another 500 or so rpms before redline, so that certainly helps out the power band.

Been a couple Dyno reports with non vvti motors getting ~10% gains what have you done differently to get more?

Our LX470 is used for travel/towing and passing at 70+ or towing there is a HUGE difference over the non - Vvti

As stated in my original post, DT headers, custom 2.5" mid section with flomaster hi flow cats and DT catback. I also have the K&N CAI which has dyno proven gains. Since I don't have a dyno to prove any of the gains this is hypothetical. But having both stock and non stock 100's, I know there is a difference.

So I requested a quote from Slee to do an install on these and they would not quote me a price because “with such a poor fitting product / quality we currently won’t install. Thanks for understanding.”

Vvti or non?
Otramm is installing a set now on a non vvti FYI.

Let me know if you find a vendor with them in stock. If OTRAMM has any luck, I might give it a try. They are close to me. I'm not interested or likely skilled enough to do it myself!

I've done 4-5 sets of the Thorley Headers. They aren't fun to install but not much harder than doing the factory manifolds. The only thing that makes them trickier is the tubes passing in front of the mounting studs. Took me about a week to get the set i'm installing today.

Always been very interested in this to go along with my borla catback, just wish i had the money/time for install. Any notice mpg gains?

Have you done a set on a VVTI if so how do they compare to the non-vvti. Do you remove the rack on your installs?

I've never done one on a VVTI truck. On the one's I've done I haven't messed with the rack. I take the drivers side motor mount loose and lift the motor enough to stick a small piece of 2x4 between the mount and frame. Spline sockets and a flex head ratchet from the top work from there.

DT headers installed today on my 2007.

I didn’t dyno but the throttle response is noticeable for sure.

I have a Bank 2 Sensor 1 CEL that won’t clear. Also VSC TRAC and VSC OFF lights are on for some reason.

Driving home now.

Best news no more ticking!

Good to hear

Please report back after some miles. Interested if its worth even if we are not having factory manifold problems.

I had a shop install my headers, I know it's a difficult install. If you are clearing the code and it keeps coming back then it may need to remain good readings for a while to truly clear (provided there isn't an actual O2 sensor issue).

My first post on here, I've been coming to this site for a few years and it's an incredible wealth of knowledge. I figured it was time to sign up.

I just installed DT headers on my 2007 LX470 (everything stock, 280k miles). It was too late to order OEM gaskets when I read that those are preferred so I may end up putting new gaskets in at some point, we'll see how long the DT gaskets last.

It was myself and 2 friends working on this over several evenings, we're all pretty experienced wrenchers and we found the job to be pretty challenging due to the lack of clearance, particularly on the drivers side. It was difficult to get access to the nuts for removal and even more difficult to try and torque the new ones, we mostly had to tighten by feel.

Next week I'm having Red Run (Ephrata PA, incredible exhaust work for cheap) put in an entire header back exhaust system with new cats, resonator and muffler. I'm thinking of doing 2" off the headers, 2" high flow cats and then 3" or 3.5" the rest of the way. I've read some of the exhaust threads here on the forums and there doesn't seem to be a solid consensus.

I'll post my impressions when it's all done

@cmeha Definitely curious to see the results with your exhaust. I've got a couple pinholes in mine and am keen to replace it with something more free flowing after seeing some of the dyno threads of headers+exhaust, but not necessarily looking for loud or droney. I did the DT headers a while back and already noticed the difference.

Any follow up on this? I’m looking to do the same thing as my ‘tick’ is getting worse. Wild love your thoughts and general cost estimate for a full exhaust. Thx!!
