Who has the highest mileage?

My old 2L engine had 584000km, or so, on the clock.

Still sitting in the yard in case the 1kz ever totally packs up....

i have often wondered about the high mileage oil change intervals and how many miles these engines really see vrs the old 5000 km oil changes ...
here is an example of "the oil is the life blood of the engine" theory.

I wonder where the change oil every 5000km theory was from?

My grandfather preached every 3,000 miles, my father preached every 3,000 miles,
and my great grandfather would have preached the same thing if they had automobiles in his day. :D
Only the "quickie lube guys " push every 3,000 miles now. I believe most manufactures suggest much higher intervals. My daughters Honda relies on a computer that monitors exhaust gas temperature and there is no longer a standard in the owners manual.

I have over 340,000 km on my KZJ71 1KZTE. Brought it with 80,000 km. I service it every 5000km with a diesel and oil flush keeps the oil clean for the first 1200 km. I got the oil analyzed at 5 thousand km still perfect and then at ten thousand still fine to use he saidk

Seems like the B series is the most common to have the higher mileage, no? Doesn't surprise me one bit!

Gotoy-thats the highest mileage I have seen on an L series. I love the old 1 and 2L engines.

High Milage!

I have a had a few higher mileage cruisers, my first HJ 60 had 478,000KM on the clock when she got lazy,, but still ran fine, I pulled the engine and put in a rebuilt, and sold her shortly after, another of my HJ 60’s was sold to a fellow here in Ottawa at 360K Km , it was repainted and used for a benefit rally across the Sarah and left in some African state as an ambulance, don’t know if its still running or if some war lord now owns it ! I presently own a BJ74 where the PO calf’d the engine at 218K KM ( loaned to his son who drove it like a ricer ) we will have to see where the rebuilt engine gets me, ( at 240KKM now) Then there is my HDJ81, with a spun bearing at 220K ( almost rebuilt now…. )

Interestingly, out of all the cruisers I have owned or even seen, I bought my brothers 1997 FJ80 out of Oklahoma, with 360K MILES ! or > 550 K km on it, ( 3 yrs ago ) This is far more than any diesel got around here , the truck is now driven by GF, who was recently been offered $6500 for it, yet won’t sell.. at almost 600K km. it only burns some oil, no rust, and AC still cold. I am still a diesel head, but wow, for the 2F engine, bullet proof!. BTW, I drove my 1991 Previa to 520Kkm on an engine that was NEVER serviced other than oil changes, and sensors, engine never opened… One morning it just went bang and I didn’t even open her up . she had served us only too well ! It too went further than all my Diesels , WT* ?

Had a 6.9l IH diesel in a Ford pickup that has 637,000km when I sold it. Thats the highest I have had. A few other Ford diesels with well over 400,000km

Its pretty much for all diesels, its not oil breakdown from heat/friction, but the amount of soot that contaminates the oil. High priced diesel oil might not be worth it if you are changing every 5k. I would splurge on the filter for sure.

G'Day Fella's,

My Battle Cruiser (1989) BJ73, has 380,000 ish kms on the clock.

It still uses only about 150mls (1/2 a cup) of oil, between services (Oil and Oil Filter every 5,000 Kms, since it was new).
Also, I recently did a few trips (one day and several day) and it averaged a fuel consumption of 10.37 Ltrs/100 Kms (Highway day trip of 650kms).

Also and an edited correction (I found another fuel receipt). it used 12.68 Ltrs/100 Kms (Bush trip of 750kms, on 95.14 liters of fuel).

Happy Easter to you all

When I first saw this thread I wasn't sure if the original poster was referring to a Cruiser or those that own them when referencing "high mileage". :)

There are a lot of cruiser 75 and 80 series Petrol and diesel around my area with more then 400,000kms I’ve owned two Utes 1hz with 450,000 on the clock one drove better than a 1hz ute work had with 100,000kms on it.
Seen a few with over 800.000kms and watched a hzj80 tick over 1million kms

I've got 439,000 KM on my 2H HJ75, driven daily without issue! I'd like to imagine there was a lot of highway driving done where it came from in AUS, so that's why it still runs so great.

G'Day Fella's,

Please see above, for a correction on the fuel consumption, from the Bush Trip.
I initially forgot about, and then found the fuel receipt yesterday, for the 21.14 liters of fuel I purchased, to make sure I could get home OK.

Further to lubrication/maintenance and FYI, I have always replaced the oil in both diff's, G/Box and T/Case, every 30,000 Kms.

Double D'oh!! and Avagreatweekendeh!

So my hzj75 (qhz) has 372,000 kms. So just a puppy. But our old excavator at work has this: 7772.

I have a 99 HZJ73 sitting in Europe with 670000 km on it ,I use it to drive all over Europe to haul a trailer to pick up the Cruisers that I buy.

Miles do not concern me in a diesel cruiser as long as they feel "right" and the maintenance is up to date.
