It's a generator engine, or marine application. Doubt it would work. But if it's cheap it would be worth buying. As you might want to make a little standby power plant.
Someone did make one of these work some time back but I can never find the post.
He claimed with a turbo fitted it could outrun a 12HT.
Im not sure if we are talking about the same model engine and he did have some issues connecting it to the drivetrain.
I guess you would need to check out the HP ,rpm and torque specs.
A lot of industrial engines are tuned to run at a set speed for economy.

try contacting you local cummins dealer...most are also onnan dealers, so they may be able to tell you more.

Cummins owns Onan.
I have seen pics online of a 6AT, 3.4L inline 6. Might be nice in your 40. I think the engine was an onan until cummins bought them and soon there after made some improvments to the engine.
