So the passenger electric seat in the 80 would go every direction but forward and backwards.

I finally took the 4 seat bolts off and took a look. I saw that one of the electrical cables was not connected to anything. After a long search, I found it and connected it.

Ta-dah.....the seat now moves forward and backwards.

However, only one side seems to move, the other is stationary. So the seat barely moves forward at all, as it doesnt move properly with only one side working.

When I had the seat off I noticed one of the two long threaded rods on the bottom would twist and the other would not (the one near the white plastic screw cap is the one that wont turn).

well i have the replacement white caps, and was going to replace, but the groove that you rest your screwdriver in is all tore up on the white cap. And with the placement of everything around it, I have no idea how to get the white cap off.:crybaby:

any suggestions?

and is the new white cap going to be the miracle cure that will make the 2nd long rod twist, making the seat good as new?

thanks all

I doubt very much that the white cap will fix your problem. Since the lead screw on that side doesn't move at all I'd say the gear box is stripped. They are kind of pricey but not over the top expensive.

I had the same problem. The cap didn't help. The gear was around $70 which fixed it.

so even though all the other seat movement options work, i still need the gear box to fix my problem?? DOH!

maybe i will just let it be, its my wife's DD and she doesnt usually have passengers. plus its back all the way already.

could i screw up the other movement options by leaving it as is.... ie, should i unplug that option undeneath the seat so it doesnt cause any more damage?

thanks all
