This is the gasket for the side pannel on my F engine. Does the side with the little bumps go up or down?

It only fits one way Mike.... ;)

"little bumps to the top" :)

Thanks Steve

Just a quick reminder...

Before you install the gasket, maks sure you use a small hammer and reverse ping the metal side cover where the 6x1.00mm bolts go thur or the gasket will contiune to leak.

I believe he means to panel-beat the cover around the bolt holes because the metal is likely to have been "pulled-in" there.

If you don't "re-flatten" the metal around the bolts, the cover probably won't be able to exert sufficient sealing-pressure on the gasket mid-way between bolts ..... if you know what I mean.

On the same theme ---- Where soft cork gaskets are present I like to use loctite thread locker and avoid over-torquing the bolts. (Without the blue loctite, the torque may be insufficient to stop them loosening due to engine vibration.)
