Sorry, I plagiarized this photo from the 80 series 3fe section...
Anyway, can anyone familiar with the FJ62, advise which sensor/switch/sender would affect the air/fuel mixture to run rich or lean?
History: My son's FJ62 has been running rich (lots of black soot on the exhaust tip) so had a mechanic friend take a look at it. He said that it is running rich and that he cannot get the cat converters up to operating temperature and that they will probably will need to be replaced soon. We checked the CEL codes and got 25/26(?) running lean / running rich?? Sorry I'm confused and figured its time to reach out to the MUD community to help my simple mind figure this out.... Anyway my friend said that it could possibly be a coolant temp switch/sensor that is telling the ECU that the engine isn't getting up to the right operating temperature which is causing it to run rich. Sounds about right to me... unfortunately i found this picture and it seems there are quite of few sensors/sendors/switches tied to the coolant temp.... Sorry to ramble on.. lots of coffee this AM but any help with narrowing this down would be greatly appreciated. BTW the engine is the original with 220,xxx miles on it. TIA!
