I found a waterjet place to cut me a bracket ($94) using the plans from the French site in the FAQ's. That site uses a Sanden compressor, and none of the 3b AC threads I can find have compressor details. The Sanden 508's I see on ebay have 2 pulleys. I've seen mentioned belt alignment issues. This might compound it all.
1. Is that bracket just for a Sanden 508?
2. Would a toyota (2f) compressor be better?
3. I am using other hoses, condenser etc from a 62, are AC hose fittings at all universal?
If the conscensus is stick with a toyota compressor and the bracket won't work I'll save my money and fabricate one entirely. Thank you for the help!

Did you get any resolution? I am attempting all the same things. Was going to have Keith at Jefferson State Machining (Redding, CA) cut the same bracket for me when he built my turbo kit. Then I realized the 2F compressor is way different. Tor at Torfab in Mukilteo, WA discovered lots of non 2F Toyotas in the mid '80s using a 22R had the correct AC compressor. Still looking and trying to match them all up.

I'm still not convinced that bracket will work though. I too might be starting from scratch to add an AC compressor.

I was all confused because I had a 62 compressor in hand... But I think Jzilla is right. I have the bracket I just need to weld it up and fit it with a 2f compressor, I'm waiting on the pulley. If anyone is interested I got my bracket from Western Water Jet in billings, for $107 shipped. I ended up going in and he downloaded the French site bracket file and made some changes (apparently so the file could be read by his machine while I waited) now he has the file in the correct format so I think you could just call him tel:(406)690-94ten, and it wouldn't require trying to send someone a file which was problematic for because I don't have the software. I'm sure Keith could do it too, and most importantly would be willing!, but it's a little weird to try and do over the phone if the water jet place has to wade through the internet to download the file. I'll post some photos when (if ever) I get done. FYI mine is 3/8" plate bc the original is specc'd at 4mm or something not common here.

Hi, I was reading your info on the addition of an a/c compressor and I'm trying to add one to my BJ42 with a 3B diesel. Did you have success with the bracket that Western Water Jet cut for you? I'd be interested to hear about your experience and ultimately, whose A/C kit you used. Thanks, Bill-281.300.9973.
