I know there are long and short ones, but don't know which ones I have. Further more, will these work with 79 or later parts if I upgrade my 77 axle?

Just off the top of my head, it looks like you have the rare ones for the 76-78's. They only came on FJ55s. That's pretty cool unobtanium. Does the dial say "Asco"?

I don't think they will work with later parts, but I've not tried that and could be wrong.

I would think that you could sell those when the time comes and buy the more standard later hubs.

I had 3 of those hubs at one time that I have misplaced and have not seen in several years.

Unobtanium?! Awww man I'm trying to keep that kind of stuff out of my rig. :p

One dial does say Asco, the other says Aisin. Picked them up some time ago to replace the original Warns. Finally getting to it now with my rehab project.

Upgrading the knuckles is looking more like a must do, but the donor set I've got a line on is minus the hubs. :hmm:

If you are using Longfields you can use a bolt and washer to retain the birf in those hubs, but the other hubs are pretty common. You can also use the IFS hubs if you want to get the chromo hub gears and swap some guts. I have one for a spare, but keep the bolt/washer with it. Figured I can use the long body with short or long birfs but short bodies on the 76-78 birfs are a no go.
