I’m mounting some Morel 602’s. Trying to decide where yo mount tweeters and crossovers.
Any suggestions?

I put my tweeters on front pillars just below the sunviser. Basically you want the tweeters at ear level. Mine sounds great. The cross overs fit in the kick panels. It's a little tight on the drivers side, but it should fit.

Tweeters are directional so why ear level is best, they will be fine located anywhere with a direct line towards the intended listeners ear. A lot of them sit in little cups you can rotate to angle them in the direction you need to go. It can be challenging for the drivers side to get it pointed at the driver so sometimes I have aimed the drivers side tweeter at the passenger and vise versa.

Kick panel seems like a good location for the cross over. I usually mount them inside the door panels on most of my installs (when the tweeter is on the door) but there isn't much room between the glass and the metal on these trucks so not sure it would work.

I was able to install my tweeters in the OEM locations inside the dash.

My crossovers went under my drivers seat next to my amp. I used velcro to stick them to the carpet.

There are some audiophile arguments for mounting them in the driver's kick panels and aiming them at the listener. Search

Or Landcruiserphil has some mounted in the upper door card which looks about right too.

I have seen some mounted on the top of the dash and rotated to bounce off the windshield. Not sure about sound quality with that. As @rolliges stated, if mounted in the kick panels, they are further away from the ear. Tweeters should be mounted equidistant from the ears to provide correct sound imaging. By moving them lower to the kick panels, you reduce the difference in distance, as a percentage, between them for both the driver and passenger. That said, does it really matter in an off road vehicle that may have so many mods that create noise? :meh:

This is exactly what I did. I like the discrete location, and it sounds really good too. I would do it again for sure.

Yeah, I also feel like this position worked out great. I figure if the all mighty Toyota engineers put them in this location to begin with than they must be up to par for my feeble ears....

All true. If you really want to get techy higher end head units come with the ability to delay the sound produced from each speaker to cause the sounds to arrive from all speakers to the listener at the same time. My alpine does this, and I played around with it. Works great for one seating position but if you move far enough from the drivers seat you can kind of pick up an echo. Went back to no delays, as was pointed out all the rattles and drone from the mud tires really make it pointless to have perfect sound distribution.
