Where is the paint code stamped on an FJ40? (1 Viewer)

Ive got a 72 thats dark green and appears to be original. How do I tell what color code of green it's painted?

My colour is "Sky Blue" which has the Toyota paint code "854".

My 1974 tag doesn't have any of that information. So I'm thinking '72 wouldn't have it either....

Color codes weren't stamped on the VIN tag until the later years. Not sure exactly when it started.

At least 78 (mine is late 78)+ had the paint code on the VIN plate. 82 also had color and trim

My '78 has it on the firewall vin plate. Code 309, Freeborn Red. On '76-77 it would appear on the inside of the passenger fender under the hood of course.

You know, this is a blessing in disguise, folks. You can repaint the rig any factory color for that particular year that you prefer, and there's no paint code to remind you it's not the original paint!

I like the way you think
My 72, pictured to the left is most likely Beige 464 but IF I repaint, I might like Dune Beige 416 as it has a little gusto to it.
Does anyone have a Dune Beige 416 they can post a picture of?
