No light in my heater control. I have ordered a replacement bulb from SOR but not sure where the bulb goes. Do I have to pry off the front lens of the controls? It looks like it might come apart>

Pretty sure the front illuminated cover just pops off to access the bulb, it does that in the 60‘s which are very similar.

I ended up following a mod from someone on 'Mud using this reflective tape to provide a little more illumination from that bulb. I had mine for 20 years and didn't even know there was a light in there. Still nothing too dramatic even with the tape, but at least you know there is a bulb there.

If it is similar to the 60’s (I think it’s the same), do make sure the wattage of the bulb is correct, otherwise you’ll melt/soften the receptacle and that will lead to bulb contact problems! It’s only supposed to be 2 watts, and most bulbs from auto shops that size are 5 Watt. That leads to excessive heat and problems.

Here are some pics of mine with the LED and reflective tape. I have the LED facing the back side to prevent a hot spot in the middle.

I put in the reflective tape and LED, did you put that little white plastic thing back in?

Putting the heat control assemble back in, I can’t remember where this plastic shim goes. On the right side of the heater control between metal frame and the unit?

My little white plastic was MIA when I did mine. And if memory serves the plastic shim goes behind.
