    my 77 FJ40.
Interior is nice factory looking Olive Brown (code 653 according to CCoT site)
Exterior is a mess of horribly oxidized freeborn red and rust. ::)
Hardtop and doors are freeborn red inside.

I'd like to put this thing back to factory color but want to make sure THAT is Olive Brown.

I see nothing on my VIN plate.... how can I tell?

Look at the plate under the hood on the passenger side of the firewall. At least that is where it is on my 1980 FJ40...

    OK... nothing on my firewall.

I just realized it might be on my passenger fenderwell. I cant see it because of a dual battery setup.

Before I pull the batteries, can anyone confirm this location on a 77?

OK.... I can't get a decent pic of the plate that you can read the details easily:

    Sooo......

    Here is the info:

    TOYOTA
    Model FJ40LV-KCJA
    ENGINE 2F 4230CC/257.9CU.IN.
    FRAME No. FJ40-231956
    COLOR/TRIM 653 LE11
    TRANS/AXLE H42 K082 0-12
    PLANT/G.V.W. A11

    SO:
it looks like it WAS OD Brown as the color code matches the *653* code from CCoT.

I know about the H42 4 speed, but is the K082 a *split* 4 speed transmission?

Anyone know anything abnout the trim? :D I didn;t realize there were different trim options ::)

Hey! the good thing is that the VIN matches the VIN on the door jam :D

    Thanks for the help guys!
