Where do I find a front differential gasket (1 Viewer)

I am having a hard time finding a gasket for my 1988 FJ62 front differential. I would like to find a paper one, not the cork.

Does anyone have the part number or a lead on where to find one?

You could also buy a sheet of gasket material and make your own. The hammer trick makes it pretty quick and easy.

I use silicone. Wire wheel the flanges then dress the edge of the flange with a big bastard file to remove any knicks or deformities and run a small bead around all of the holes and you will be good. No need for those gaskets. I have been not leaking for over 20 years doing it this way.

Consider loctite 518. A product specified by many oem for gasket surfaces where oem gaskets are no longer offered. A thin coat is all that’s needed.

No cork gasket needed, only paper in front diff (no cover like rear diff) :
42181-60060 Paper gasket for diff/housing, thin so it does not mess up the alignment pattern. (bolts torque 47 or more N•m)
42183-35010 Cork Gasket for cover/housing (bolts torque 13 N•m)


Also adjust Carrier Bearing Pre-Load CBPL while in there

Toyota FIPG works great. Properly prep all surfaces and it will do the job.

Agreed or the Toyota FIPG. I've found these options to hold a better seal.

Slow but sure. I don't have many hours a week to work on the project so it goes slow but I am making progress. I have everything flipped on the axle for SOA. I had the differential rebuilt with 5:29 gears. Everything is put together and on the cruiser. Now to rebuild the knuckles and get all that on and done.

How do my springs look? In your opinion, is that going to be OK? Other thoughts?
