I am going to be doing a toyota mini truck power steering conversion on my 73 fj40 this weekend. I have the JTO kit with Bill Dorry's pump and gearbox mounts I am running 35X12.5 Trxus tires. Now to the question I have a transmision cooler that I am going to run on the return and I would like to see were other people have installed them. Pictures or any other tips would be great!

I mounted mine in front of the radiator.

Driver's side fender. I used the tranny cooler from a Taurus and bent the mounting bracket slightly to match up with the bend at the top of fender where it goes horizontal.

Too lazy to get a pic today.

I'm using a Setrab unit for my P/S cooler. Mounted it on the side of the radiator housing:

I used a ford escort (i think) tranny cooler, and it just kicks it in front of the radiator.

Mine's a long, slim unit I got from Summit Racing. It mounts neatly behine the bib in the lower slots.

Ya I think the most common place is either in front of (my preference) or behind the radiator. I'd get a pic but it's the same as the others.

I wonder if I could use the extra FJ40 heater core I have for a cooler? It should work, right?? I know I would need to make a bracket for it, but it was an idea I just had.

ATF cooler out of an FZJ80 radiator. - Yes I am a cheap bastard. :flipoff2:

Mounted with some L-brackets to the radiator support crossmember. Just behind the top of the bezel.
