Where are my 1990 FJ62 owners at? (1 Viewer)

It never struck me that I could just go on the Toyota VIN decoder and just start incrementing last digits on the VIN to find out what the last FJ62 was. It kind of works. I did the next 110 numbers after mine, and only got two: JT3FJ62G4L1121637, and JT3FJ62G4L1121640.

This is flawed though. Notice these are not sequential VINs, so I can't know I've reached the end. There could be a big gap in numbers for some reason. It also assumes that the check digit and production plant are the same (4 and 1 in this case). So I guess I am back to the drawing board, hoping for a Toyota employee to work some magic and tell me how many FJ62s were made after mine. At least two, it seems.

Not deliberately trying to flog a 16 month old topic just for pain, but…

What exactly does the number at the bottom right of a VIN plate indicate? For example, my FJ62 VIN ends in 121295. HOWEVER beneath that my tag states “No. 998 Made in Japan”. See below circled in red:

What does that specific number indicate? The number of FJ62s built that month? Any ideas or concrete facts?
