I have a 1970 fj40 and I need a spare tire and rim. Its the 6 lug wheel and I wanted to know what cars/trucks use this bolt pattern? Currently I have 15 inch rims with 31 x 11.5 tires

Well, the Isuzu Trooper 84-91 uses a 15" 5 on 5.5" rim. However, I don't know if the wheel center is too far outboard for the Land Cruiser. I have a set of nearly new P235-75-R15 mud tires on Trooper rims, but never seem to get around to seeing if they actually fit the Land Cruiser.

BE careful of stock Chevy wheels, the center hole is usually too small. Anything toyota 6 lug should fit (older stuff).

I have a set of FJ cruiser wheels going on mine and they clear the mint truck ifs calipers. I also have a stock oem 40 wheel with hub cap and excelent tire for 50 plus the ride.

Hi All:

Victor, you need a six-lug wheel that works on a solid-axle truck. So, any Land Cruiser wheel up to 1989 will work, as will Toyota 4wd truck wheels 1979-85, and Chevy/GM wheels from 1/2 ton 4X4s such as the K5 Blazer, 1500 pick-up, and Suburban (up to 1989.)

The post 1986 Toyota 4wd truck wheels have the wrong backspacing, as do the post 1989 Chevy/GM wheels. The post 1989 Land Cruiser wheels have different backspacing as well, IIRC.

HTH.

Regards,

Alan

Hi All:

Brian, from my experience the backspacing on IFS wheels is wrong for a solid axle, leaf-sprung Land Cruiser. Also, I don't think the center holes on the Trooper wheels are large enough to go over the Land Cruiser front lock-out hubs - at least the aftermarket wheels I have on my Trooper (your basic white wagon wheels) won't clear the Warn lock-outs on my FJ40.

Alan
