Kreiten, did you say you have 275/70/18's or 75/18's? I know you're getting a lift, so this will be a moot point, but have you ever had an alignment done? Even when I had the Duratracs on, I never had any rubbing issues, so I'm wondering if an alignment might help? Mine are 70/18's, so if you do have 75/18's, that wouldn't help. Just a thought.
Also, I can't really say that I recommend wheel spacers, BUT, I did run them on my 4Runner for six years and never had any problems. Obviously, an aftermarket wheel with the correct offset is the way to go, but like you, I also like the looks of the stock wheel, so if it's any consolation, and you decide to run the stock wheel, I was pretty happy with my Spidertrax spacers.

Yes, wheel clearance increased by roughly 10mm.
60mm (OE) - 50mm (TRD) = 10mm

But we are talking about 18x8 vs 17x8, so it's a bit more complicated than that. Exact tire clearance will depend on the tires.

In your 1st post, you are talking about rubbing on the LCA... but I suspect you mean the KDSS sway bar/mount. SLEE has something up his sleeve regarding relocating the KDSS slightly for more clearance. I'd contact him.

For rubbing on the UCA. An aftermarket UCA can give you more clearance... and suggested for higher lifts.
now we're taling, yep, your right on rubbing on the KDSS sway bar at full turn, and with a lift I will want to run a bit bigger tire, which will make that problem even worse(I'll contact Slee on that) and for the UCA good to know that the after market one's allow for more clearance... 10mm more for the TRD wheels, so not even a half inch, but every little bit helps... But with a 17 inch tire as opposed to an 18 inch tire the sidewalls may come out a bit more and eat up part of that gain, correct??? (depending on brand, side tread etc) thanks for all the info, I'm starting to put a plan together!!!

I love the look of the stock wheel, but also like the TRD wheels and looks like they allow for a bit more clearance, just not sure on the wheel spacers yet.... I have the Goodyear Duratrac 275-70R18's, the clearance at the UCA is about a cc width at full turn, and on the lower KDSS control arm it rubs with the wheel cranked all the way! The rubbing is very minimal with the tires I have on now, but with a lift I will eventually run larger tires, so would be best to find solutions now before I get too far into this!!!

Yeah, that's what I though you had. I would take it to a good alignment shop. I had rubbing issues with my 4Runner, and it seemed to help. I do agree though, If you go with bigger tires, aftermarket wheels with the correct offset is the best way to go.

wish they made some better looking wheels on the 5x150 bolt pattern... I like the good ol fashioned plain looking wheels... I would love to buy some black steel rockcrawlers for my 200:)))

wow some cool rigs on there, wish they gave more info, tire size, lift etc.. I didn't see that on there... I'm assuming they are running the ICON's:)))
I called and spoke with the guy that built the Gray 200 with 35's pictured on the Icon website (the 200 in WA) and he suggested the following:
17x8 wheel with 4.75" back spacing - he was running Hutchinson wheels with some UCA's, OME 722's in the rear and an Icon set up. He mentioned nothing about offset but I assume thats because his hutchinson wheels worked, so he didn't make a point of it (and I didn't know to ask at that point in my info gathering). PM me if you would like the guys name and number I spoke with as he was extremely helpful and located in your neck of the woods.

35s? Have we found the white unicorn of the 200 world? That's about $2500 for just the wheels alone. :censor:

Hutchinsons are $1800, offset is +30, so they stick out a bit more than the TRD wheels. The TRD wheels w/ a proper width 35" tire are probably the keys here. During the next couple of weeks, I'll finally have a decent amount of time with my wife's ride, I'll try to get some data assembled for you.

thanks for the info, I'm definatley starting to lean toward the TRD wheels, looking forward to any addtional info etc... And when you say proper width 35 inch tire are you thinking something in the 285mm range???

My pesos here

they're not wheel spacers. they're more accurately called wheel adapters like spidertrax which i ran on my 4r back in the day. 1.25" iirc with studs, well made, etc. spacers are just that and a rather tawdry way to get additional spacing since you're also going to have to find

I believe that gray WA state 200 is also running nitro gears which imho goes hand in hand with the much heavier, bigger 35" tire. I think I was quoted around $2K?

33s do fine with stock gears esp with the stump pulling power of the superb Japan made 5.7. 2" equates to a lot more wear, tear and extra $s to make it work. Looks great though! I wish I could *easily* run some 14" wide MT 35s.

11.5 or slimmer
