Very nice place. Canyons are beautiful. I nevered wheeled there (I didn't know there was any - there are heep "rides" in the state park). Basically that area of Texas is covered by the Caprock which makes Amarillo, Lubbock, and everything between and around so flat and boring. Palo Duro (hard wood in Spanish - no s***) is at the edge of the Caprock which creates all the canyons. I would say it is worth the trip from Tulsa.

I'm pretty sure that it's not public wheeling. It's just opened up for the Jamboree.

I wheeled there in 1995. It is (mostly anyway) private land. The ranch owner and Jeep Jamboree have had a deal going for quite a few years.

Neat place.

There's wheeling in Amarillo anytime along the Canadian river...miles and miles of it. It can be very rough/muddy at times...I've seen vehicles that had to be abandoned for weeks...know what you're going into before you go in. There's always people out there every weekend, it's about 12 miles north of town. They have a big mud bog every february.

Used to camp in Palo Duro Canyon as a scout.

I think wheeling is restricted. Also check out Lake McKenzie.
