This question has probably been asked before...

I read that 3.5" is the proper off set or is it back set, for the wheels on a FJ40. The wheels I have been looking at have either been 3.25 or 3.75. Will these work or am I looking in the wrong places.

On Tire Width- I read that the 12.5 width tires will rub. Are the 10.5" OK or is 9.5 better.
I am installing a 2.5 " lift and would like to put 33" tall tires on. Skinny tall tires don't look great.

Thanks for the input.

IMO, for a 33x10.5 tire (9.5 is too skinny, I agree) you want a 7" rim with 3.5" backspace...3.25" will work as well. 3.75 is tight - you may need to run 1/4" spacers ($20 for 4 I think) to keep the inside of the rim clear of the steering arms in front and off the brake caliper. You can also grind a bit off the caliper and it will clear, but any wheel weights with a 3.75 BS rim will likely tear your tie rod boots up...

I run 33x12.50 on 8" rims with 3.75 backspace and 1/4" spacers on the front with a 2.5" lift. They clear and look good.
