Wheel stud help (2 Viewers)

I did a search on Mud and found a part number for wheel studs from NAPA, 641-1628. Everything I can find for a 1976 FJ40 says I should have a 14.22mm knurl. When I pulled mine, I measure 13.88 on the old one, and 14.22 on the new one. Does anyone know what I should be using? As far as I know, everything is stock. This is on my rear axle. I haven't tried digging into the front axle. Are they the same?

I just went through this for fronts. There isn’t an exact match, FJ60 studs are longer but iirc they aren’t going to work either.

So I used “tuner” lug nuts which pass through the wheel. Another solution is to use spacers that bolt to the hub and have seperate studs. Just make sure they are installed properly and blue loctite wouldn’t hurt either.

Remember a few years ago their were longer lugs available in Australia. Believe they suited the 60 series. I have a 84 40 series axles off an Australian HJ47RV. Front is disc and while I never checked but believe the lugs would be the same as the 60 series.

Back in the late nineties I searched for some 3rd gen 4Runner wheels I really like. At the time $600 was the cheapest I could find used. At the time $600 was a lot of money. Last few years have purchased multiple sets. While not a driver have them on a 79 FJ40 and a runner 89 FJ62 used one inch spacers with their own lugs.

This is what I used. 75 FJ40, the frt end had been swapped to disc. IDK, know if it makes a difference, the rotors were the bolt on type. I'm pretty sure I used these all the way around. The short stud is stk.

Another thing to keep in mind if running a stock tire carrier may want to extend the bolts used to mount the spare. I used a one inch spacer on the 79 and 73 FJ40 FST that has 91 80 series wheels on.

@pb4ugo I looked up those parts and the knurl diameter is 14.38mm. the one that I removed measures 13.88. Did you have any trouble getting them in?

I just pulled them in with a lug nut and an impact gun. I think I used a 1/2" washer against the axle flange. 1/2 a mm or .0197" difference.

If they are too long, I’m about ‘96 I converted my rear axle to discs and needed longer studs. I ended up finding studs from a newer Landcruiser that were the 3/8” longer I needed. They were front studs from a late 80s early 90s Landcruiser.
