Wheel size & back spacing on 84? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have a Samurai that is getting Toyota donor axles right now....the work is happening about 3 hours from me. The parts truck came with a solid front axles so it had to be 85 or earlier. Three questions.

One is what is the orignal wheel size?

What back spacing was used?

Did the original solid axle truck require a lift to run 33's?

15 inch wheel, with 3-3/8 inch backspace, I dont know about the lift and 33's . I got this info from someone on the internet

What is the original wheel size?

I believe it was a 15x6", with P225/75R15 tires.

What back spacing was used?

Most people run 3.5". I have 3.75" on the 4Runner, but on a stock axle it rubs the TREs. With cross-over steering it's not a problem.

Did the original solid axle truck require a lift to run 33's?

If you don't want the tires to rub, yes, at least 2.5".

Just measured my stock 85 rims: 3 and 3/8 inches backspacing, confirmed 6 inch rim width, P225/75/15 tire is stock. I ran 32s on my 85 before it was lifted, but that's the limit IMO. My 33 inch Swampers chew on the rear edge of the front fenderwell even with a 3.5 inch lift (Swamps are 33x12.50 on 8 inch wide rim, 3.5 inch backspacing IIRC). Your experience may differ ... HTH.

I had 33's on my stock WORN OUT 85 with hammered body to clear 33's and worked awesome!

fyi IFS wheels wont work on the front axle w/o spacers
