Yes Yes I know this is a ridiculous query but that’s the joys of this forum :)

Id really like to make my HJ45 low and fat rather than big and high. My initial thoughts were to go with a 295/55 r16 set up until I realised it seems impossible to get wide enough tyres for 16 rims with a profile less than 70.
I’ve sourced a very nice set Of Vintage Jap 6stud 16 rims 10.5 wide ET-35... but tyres seem impossible unless I go to a 31 tyre which increases the vehicle height.

Any suggestions of custom tyres, ideas, different set up suggestions all very welcome and appreciated

I was just about to type "I've found 255 tires from a few places but want much wider" then I saw at the bottom the sizes tab and I see a 275 option :)

Getting much closer to my dream so thanks for that!

A bit like an auction now haha... Anyone with a bid higher than 275... 275 going once...

Not a lot of luck with initial search butttttt....
If I was to use R15 rims I’ve found Goodrich do a specific road legal tyre for vintage and muscle cars with a 295/50 R15 that look rather tasty.

so a follow up question.
I know where there’s a set of original new Japanese Enkei that are pricey but the rim width is 8.5”
Generic websites say won’t fit, a few forums seem to think they will work ok (albeit possible insurance issues)
I see a lot of 4x4 that visually have much wider tyres than rims so thought I’d get the general opinion here.
Ok? Tyre too wide? 4x4 tyre ok due greater sidewall strength?

cheers

Most tire wheel shops say anything over 8 doesn’t fit ,
Because the data base is old
I’ve had 15 by 10 wheels on mine for years. Aluminum and steel. You just can’t
Go less then like 3 3/4 backspacing. Some wheels with 4 inch backspacing
May fit. I had a set but it will rub the tie rod boot and put a hole in it and gets grease all over the wheel
Here is a pic of my OEM Toyota 15x5.5 blown out to 15 x10 stock backspacing

No idea how I missed this reply last year, apologies.

That's a great looking wheel, bravo Sir!

I'm still looking as sadly the previous set I liked sold quickly as expected
