What monstrosity is or was on your cruiser? I want to see the ugliest bumper you have seen on a 40!

Here’s what a few of mine came with.

This bj40 came with this home brew bumper welded to the original bumper and frame. Also some sliders just butt welded to the frame.

How about this solid stainless boiler plumbing? bush bar.

Or this channel winch bumper that came on my 1981 bj42.

P.O. must have taught himself to weld by watching the A-team back in the day. My old bumper must have been his first try at fabrication. Not pictured is the hideously crooked tow hitch he made. Booger welds, broken welds, terrible cuts, slag and burn marks everywhere. Can't believe he had an 8274 mounted to it. Definitely not safe. Replaced it quickly after this picture back in '96.


And here's a shot of my brother's old 40, homade bumper and all. In all fairness it was made much stronger than mine.

Maybe it’s not the ugliest, but South American cruisers have these horrible bumpers at the tips of the bumper, and I hate it

My '69 had a bumper like the OEM but shorter. PO installed it upside down after painting it silver. I reversed it so it was right side up, painted it black, mounted Hellas, my high lift, and a shovel. and the license plate holder. Looks 500% better.

This was my HJ45 when I bought it. that bumper was only welded slightly on the top.

complete with poop-pipe rollbar and smokestack BEFORE it was cool to put diesel stacks through your bed.
