hi i have a few NipponDenso 5 wire NOS voltage regulators

i also have 2 different 6 wire ones

ALL 24v........fyi

however i was asked for a 6 wire for a HJ61 and i can't find ANY info anywhere online except 2 different 6 wire part numbers OEM that claim to NOT interchange ?

27700-57080

27700-57090

this is very odd to have such a vacuum of no TECH after digging here on MUD in advance search too

gotta be a difference between B and H series

what colour is the extra wire
and are the other five the same between the 5 and the 6 prong

just checked - 1980 Canadian bj40 24v - six wires/green connector

not a B to H change.

5 pin were maybe pre 74 or odd market/no heater

a ROUND type green connector 6pin correct ?

like this ?

NOTE: this is a sample connector ONLY photo and NOT from a related TECH> regulator topic , as it only has 5 pins too ....

Matt,

My 03/81 General Market (S. Amer) BJ40 - B engine (but, with many 3B attributes... oil cooler, late water pump, etc.) - shows a six pin regulator.

P/N: 27700-15011 is stock according to toyodiy.

Also, this is a snip from the wiring diagram that I used to rebuild the wiring harness; shows six wires to/from V/R:

I can't tell from the pictures that you posted if your 5-wire has a Yellow wire. But by the wiring diagram the Yellow wire on the six-pin V/R is optional. FWIW, that yellow wire comes FROM the (+) side of the Sedimenter warning light (before the float/switch in the sedimenter that would trigger the warning light), through a diode and into the V/R. I'll stop short of speculating on what that yellow wire DOES within the V/R 'cause I don't completely understand the relays/switches inside there...

I'm not sure this answers your original question (which, I think, was 'what do these 5-wire regulators go to.?') but I hope to help,
Trav.-

I have the 6 wire, at least count six wires, it is explained somewhere, ignition or battery: no need to try to charge if engine is off.

From here, where mine tried to fry itself, picture to large to attach so a link

Yeah, 12V. (again, sorry if I clogged up the thread with my non-answers.... haha)

You have a LOT of stuff I need (V/R is just one of them); I'll give ya' a call in two weeks - got some travel that I need to complete before the next parts order - but certainly I am at the point to need a bunch of vintage, quality, TEQ, correct stuff!!

Your Input Master Chief IS ALWAYS welcome and VALUED in my threads ............ :)

I think maybe it's time to call in MY personal Expert on regulators ........

@bj40green Rudy wrote a College professor LEVEL Thesis on regulators , just not sure how much was 24v related ?

time refresh Mr. Rudy's passionate thread of a helpful nature ..

I will post the link once i find it again ...HERE

The voltage regulator of my 24v HJ61 just died.
I am searching for a replacement. Part reference 27700-57090 (what I had) isn't produced anymore but I can still source 27700-57080. From what I understand 27700-57090 is 24v 30A, and 27700-57080 is 24v 25A.
Can anyone confirm, and most importantly are these parts interchangeable?
Cheers
