ok,
What has been your favorite tire that you have used so far? Not your current tire, but your favorite? And not for looks, but for reliability, puncture resistance, and overall performance, on and off road.

Good year MT/R and Yokohama geolander M/T for 2 reasons

Sticky on rocks and when you air down the sidewalls are not stiff as toyo or nitro tires. Plus they are lighter than the ones named above!

:eek::deadhorse::bang:

That white box in the Upper Right Hand Corner has some information on tires.

Just type in "Tire" and make sure you are sitting down.
Your world will get rocked.

They also have posts on "What oil you should use" and "which lift is best".

I've owned old style Goodyear MT/R, Dunlop RT? (aggressive AT), Toyo AT's, and now Toyo MT's.

I love everything about the Toyo MT's except their significant weight. However tires are not a one size fits all purchase, the best tire for you could be the complete opposite of what is best for someone else.

If you do a lot of rocks then the toyo mt would be a good fit but if you do high speed desert runs and fire roads you want a tire that has a softer sidewall

swamper boggers by far just the worst tire i have ever had on the road.

Most of the rigs I have owned up to this point have had BFG AT's from previous owners and they worked fine for me for typical moab/colorado type stuff (I avoid mud). I also ran Cooper ATP's which were quite good--much better in the wet than the BFG's, a little worse in the snow. So far my current Hankook Dynapro's are up to the challenge--but a little more pavement oriented than the ATP's.

So if leaning more towards wheeling, I would say Cooper ATP. If leaning more towards Pavement/Snow, then Hankook Dynapros (also super affordable). I don't run MT's, never have and probably never will. I guess I'm not hard core :hillbilly:

Love my Toyo AT-IIs but they are heavy!

Had BFG AT's (came on 40th I bought) , Interco Boggers (LX450 /~37's - dedicated trail, didn't care street noise), And both generation of Goodyear MT-R's on black 80.

For all around, 1st gen MT-R's.
But since they quit those, to me it's either Duratracs, MT-R's or Interco - in that order going from street friendly & normal sized, to 'Street be damned, I want crazy 37" or bigger'. But that's just my opinion & we all know what they say.

I beat the snot outa my Nitto Trails for 55,000 miles with zero flats. So that's my first choice. Second is the Cooper STTs I am currently running. A little harder to keep balanced, but they do work really well for the trails around here!

+1 for Goodyear MT/R. Have those on my Jeep (I know that's a dirty word around here) and they've been great.
Also, the Toyo AT's have been excellent on the cruiser so far. If you're looking for an all around tire I think they are hard to beat. I slid the sidewall right into a sharp rock and just knew I punctured it. I got out and...nothing. I still don't underrated how it held up. However, to echo others they are very heavy.

Don't be one of those! Humor the guy that started this thread! Not like you're doing the snorkel anytime soon anyways!

I had great results with the BFG All Terrains then I lifted, and switched to bigger BFG Mud Terrains. What a mistake! As soon as these are all used up I'm going back to BFG All Terrain KO2. WAY better in the snow, and ice. Since I'm not a huge fan of mud my original A/Ts did great in all conditions.

Michelin LTX in a 275/70r16. :grinpimp: It was only after I changed to AT's and MT's and drove it to all these remote locations that my truck started to develop rattles, became scratched and dented, and has started sucking money from my bank account.

:hmm:

LOL

Funny how that happens.

I did not ask "what I should use".
I was simply asking what people had the best luck with. If you don't like someone's thread, then don't respond.

qft. For what it's worth, my stepdad has run Michelin LTX MS on every vehicle since the early 00's, so that's a pretty strong vote of confidence.

I've had a lot of 4x4s over the years and have tried quite a few different tires. Here's the list in no particular order: BFG KO/KM/KM2, GY Duratrac, Cooper Discoverer STT, Mickey Thompson Baja Claws, Falken WildPeak AT, Kelly Safari, Big-O Big Foot, and I know there are others that I am forgetting...

Currently I'm on my fourth set of Yokohama Geolander A/T-S. They've been a great all around AT tire for me. I average about 60k out of a set and am still able to sell them for $400-500 to put towards their replacements. Almost all my off-roading is in sand and rock in the California desert with the occasional mountain snow trip. They haven't let me down yet. I typically air down to about 15psi before I go blasting down washboard roads and have yet to experience a puncture. But I never wear them down enough before replacement, so that's probably why it hasn't been an issue... YMMV
