What would cause this?

Had the 2004 LC at home last night test driving it and came out this morning, turned the truck on and got the following messages on the nav screen.

"Check the system"....
when i started pushing buttons, it said "external system not connected"

Any ideas?

Haven't seen that one, but once in a while mine will freak out and only display snow.

Yeah...it was wierd....i can understand it having to warm up or something but it shouldnt take 6-7 mins....

good! more ammo for a discount since the Nav system is obviously failing...

Serisously, btw, that is definitely something to watch out for. Make sure your extended warranty covers the Navsys cuz if it does fail it will hurt big time. Touchscreen, A/C, audio etc commands, you can't be without that one... Not cheap I'm sure!

I thought about that but it appears that its a TSB that hasnt been performed.....

I think I read the replacement nav unit is something like $6K

You can view the TSB's for free..

Dealer just called to tell me that he has ordered a new Nav screen for the "check the system" and "external system not found" error TSB and had a guy come to the dealership to fix both of the scratches. Not bad turnaround....

That is scary. Especially for me. Mine is out of the factory warranty and should be a bundle to cover everything under an extended one now! Do you guys recommend a specific warranty or person to go through for a reasonable deal?
