Where are the plastic seat backs. Did you have them before ?

Agree bottom flap on top half should go under and around the bottom crossbar shown. Not sure how it ties back in

I took the left one off to see behind them.

I am going to remove hog rings holding the seat back leather on and see the mounting of the back cushion and attempt to move it down.

By all appearances the back cushion is TOO thick at the top not allowing the leather to pull down enough to route it under the medium bar that spins to tilt the beat back. See the picture.

Is the seat foam the same between 94 and 97?

Back when I did this myself on our '93 in 2014: DS side is old, original leather; PS side is the new leather (that leather kit is no longer available, though).
No bulges up top, and it wraps around the bottom bar like others have stated previously.

I don't think one can simply pull the leather on your seat further down without un/re-doing the hog rings along the entire seatback.
