What transmission is in my 91 Land Cruiser? (1 Viewer)

I see some drivetrain numbers but no listing of a stock transmission for my truck.
Is there an issues with my year transmission?
Problem:
When first cranking up and pulling off, the transmission slips out of gear. It's like it's low on fluid. Rev it and it pops back into gear and you drive on. It might do it at a stop sign or when you brake hard. Is there an issue with either the torque converter or??....

You’ve got an A440f. Fully hydraulic. Have you checked the fluid?

Another thing to read up on is the ‘kickdown cable’ and how to adjust it.

Are both your drive flanges good? If it’s only just started, that would be something to check.

The A440F is sensitive to fluid level.
After a 20 minute drive, pull over in a level parking area. Keep the engine running and check fluid level. It should be just at the hot mark on the dipstick. Fluid should be bright candy red and smell sweet.

What @jonheld said. Single easiest check on the A440. They’re picky.

Drive flange is the toothed part that fits over the birfield stub, under the dust cap on your front axle. Pull both sides off and make sure it isn’t stripped/almost stripped out. That’s an easy check as well. It’s the bottom right piece in the pic
