What Toyota Diesel Engines Have Timing Gears?

What engines have timing gears opposed to a timing belt.

I know the 3B, 13B-T and the 12H-T all have timing gears.
Does the 1HD-T have timing gears?

The 1KZ,1KD FTV 1HZ, 1HD T,1HD FT, 1HD FTE and 1VD FTV have belts which have proved to be very reliable.
They can be had for as little as $20 these days and only take 20 mins to change every 100000 klms(for the 4cyl and 6 cyl belts).


I wouldnt consider the belt drive to be a down point if you were looking at buying an engine

changing the timing belt on the 2LT-E and 1KZT-E is not a 20 minute job,is more like 3 to 5 hours depend on your skill.

It was meant to be for the 1KZ and 1HZ type of engines. I know the 2LT is found in the LD crusers but I always think of the L engines as Hilux engines

My 1KZ-T took half an hour, its a piece of a cake and I had never changed a cam belt before

A friend's 2LT took a lot longer and is a bit more of pain.

So "2L-T" is a pain, but 5 hours? thats a dealer qoute surely?

Unless the ECU versions ("2LT-E, 1KZ-TE) are any different and I am missing something?
