I've had my dash apart for weeks doing different projects, finally done and putting it back together, and have a few things I don't remember taking apart lol. So in no particular order, here's my "WTH is that" list of shame 😂:

What's this cord on a retractor? Seems like maybe it would have connected to the glove box somehow, but it's pointed the wrong direction and I'm not sure where it would connect.

Then I've got this light in the glove box liner, but I can't for the life of me find the connector for it. Any chance mine didn't come with it connected?

Finally found this tubing on the middle of the dash, looks like a wire loom. Can't quite see where it's coming from, but it's empty and doesn't lead to anything. Any ideas?

I am disappointed.

Was expecting a thread about the chunk of metal people discover attached to the frame when they remove their running boards.

Pretty sure I found ih8mud Googling that very thing lol

It makes a great anchor for a 12' fishing boat...and the price is right. ;)

The right convoluted sleeving connects to the temperature sensor...back of the dash up near the ignition switch.

What's the white thing with "Discount Tire" printed on it?

So, what do you do after acquiring your third one, buy a 36' fishing boat?

Thanks for the heads up on the temp sensor!

The discount tire thing is just a lowly brochure with a section of split tubing sitting on it. The floor of this truck is covered end to end with tools, wire scraps, empty boxes, bandaids...

Lol, these are easy answers.

The cord - attached to your glove box so it doesn't slam down when you open it.

The tubing attached to the auto AC temp sensor. It is found underneath the ignition.

Glove box light - can't say, dig deeper.

Listen to this guy - he know what he is talking about! Also, your glovebox light was definitely connected before you took it off. Let me know if you need a pic of the connector.

That would be awesome, if I could get a photo of the connector and how that retractor lanyard connects to the glove box I'd be forever grateful👍

Came in expecting the exact same thing

Fortunately, I did learn that my glovebox should have a soft-open cord attached to it, so I guess this was actually pretty useful.

I’ve got the same little gizmo behind my glovebox but no dangly cord? I removed the bolt hoping to remove said gizmo but realized it’s attached securely behind the dash.

Guessing it’s secured by this screw on the glovebox?

That's my assumption too, but it doesn't seem right. It would be pulling backward at a sharp angle across the little retractor deal which I can't imagine is how they designed it. I haven't really looked at it tbh, I'll look at it some more today and post if I figure it out.

Well, I didn't burn a whole lot of calories trying to figure it out, but I can't see how it was originally meant to work. The cord is very short and I can't imagine it's supposed to make that extreme turn, so I must be looking at it wrong. If anyone has a picture of it it properly connected and wants to post it, I'll be your best friend and send annual Christmas cards with pictures of the family. Might even venmo you $10 or something.

Now I have to chase down another connector that apparently goes below the temp sensor tube. Swear all the wiring on that dash is on some sort of retractor.

Well, I'm back...would still love to see a pic of that glove box retractor set up correctly, I really would pay for the pic! And now I'm stuck on this. I have been all over in there and cannot find a double connector for this input above the temp sensor tube. Anyone have a shot of where it ties into the harness? Should never walk away from a project this long...

Not sure if this will help or not. I took it when I cleaning that sensor last year, but I could open that panel again tomorrow to get a better shot of where that harness originates
