On my 75 pickup, whenever it is less than 60ish degrees outside on a cold start, I get this crazy squeaking/rubbing noise. It gets louder as I speed up. If it's really cold it gets really loud. If it's a warm day, it doesn't happen. Doesn't happen at rest. Seems like once the cab is warmed up it goes away. It seems to be coming from the lower left windshield area. Since it only happens while driving I am a little stumped.

Genius! Took the cluster out and shot a smidge of lube into the cable end and the speedo. Probably half my issues with this desert truck have just needed a little lubrication. We'll see if it holds for the deep winter but today is kinda cold and it didn't make noise.

This is just a sign that the cable is wearing out and needs to be replaced. Lube will extend this time frame, but eventually it will come back. Might as well order a replacement in the meantime.
