what is your experience with replacing plastic parts?

Seems like whenever I buy used plastic stock parts to replace my cracked, broken stock parts ...the used one's end up cracking too. For me this has been the..

1. Console

2. headlight washer bottle.

I assume the heater control bezel would be the same. What are your experiences? Maybe we should make a list of items that would be better replaced with aftermarket parts? If I replace my console it will be with a metal tuffy or homemade out of metal. No one repop's the headlight washer bottle but thinking it's pretty worthless anyway. What about a metal bezel for the heater controls?
