for some reason I thought a NV5600 was a 5 speed with a granny low below it? That would be a neat setup as well. But honestly even with 106" wheelbase your rear driveshaft starts to get a little short unless you have a short t-case, which is probably pretty hard to do with any NV5600 swap..

thanks for pointing that out. with as new as I am to motors and trannys and such, I didn't even think about that. I also just assumed that a 5600 was just a evenly spaced six speed. I didn't think that it might be a 5 speed w/ a granny low..... oops  :ban:

Blue 60

He's probably sitting back reading all these replies, having himself a beer while starring at that thing of beauty in the driveway!

add a long range fuel tank and onboard air of some kind and I would be very happy with my rig...maybe an onboard shower too. Oh, and an Engel fridge.:)

I guess I am not as close as I thought to the rig I want..

I am working on a drawer system for storage as well.

The princess has always been one of my favorite rigs.

My dream rig would be a red SOA 60 on Dakar springs rhinolined up to the first body line. The tires would be 37" BFG's.

The propulsion would come from a 6BT mated to a NV5600 and then mated to an atlas two.

The axles would have to be Volvo Portals.

This would be accompanied by a 50 gallon fuel tank and winches front and rear.

*sigh*

You'll need the 6BT to drag all that weight around :D
would be a great rig though...

You better believe it!! I'd tweak the engine to put out around 600 lb/ft of torque. It would be a beast.

*bigger sigh*

Currently I am driving and 1986 HJ60, it has a five and half inch spring over lift with high steer, diff guards and 35" mud tires. I want to uprade to 37" mud tires and rock guard all the way around the truck up to where that groove is, thus eliminating all my rust issues to. I am also currently building a winch bumper for the 24volt 8000lb winch I just got. But with all that being said I would love to own a rust free HJ61....they are the coolest, minus some of the Japanese decals.

My perfect rig

Ok, here it goes.

I would want my 62, with the back end/frame chopped and tapered with the rear windows brought to the front doors to make it a 2 door buggy of sorts, full cage painted black to go with the dark steel grey paint, with a bed in the back with enough room for a big ass propane tank to run the high compression 496 propane injected big block chevy to a manual valvebody turbo 400 with dual cases or somthing else long enough to run symmetrical driveshafts to the 4-linked coilovered D60s with those huge ass bobby long s***ters at both ends (for the rear steer), tube fenders, big ass winch with synthetic rope, 40 inch rockers with those staun beadlocks, and some type of machine gun turret. And better cupholders.

Oh god yes.

I am driving my dream 60.

$1800 buy it now price.
Its a rust free NM vehicle.

SO with ARB front, Detroited rear.
37's on MRW beadlocks.

Gutted interior. Sound system going in now.

This thing is bullet proof, unstoppable and above all, ITS MINE!

Total on the whole shebang now is around $4230.00 and by Rubithon, it should be armored, winched and Toyboxed......

Thanks, people, I appreciate the kudos for the old girl! However, we were talking about dream 60s, right?!

Well, I'm pretty damn happy with the exterior and mechanics of the Princess, but the interior is another story....that needs help, and that's what I'm concentrating on next (meaning the next few years, The CFO has me under audit right now).

So I'll take the beast parked outside and ad:

* A pair of nice seats suited for LONG drives
* A fully-revamped A/C system
* Dynomat on the firewall, first half of the floor and over the custom hump
* Four new speakers mounted on the door
* some Scorpion Lining (key pieces + storage drawers)
* Re-wire *all* of the accessories
* All new weather-stripping/window seals/brushes
* Slight tinting on all the windows
* Engel 45 qt. fridge freezer on a Slee slide

I'm getting closer to how I've been envisioning this wagon for 15 years!

But wait . your rig also are one of the best that I ever seen .. ! :bounce:

Henry .. thinking a little bit in the interior of " Tencha " I doubt doing teh same as you .. I thought go in other way, simplicity.

New seats for sure .. ! soft top ( I hate the rust ! :frown: ) swap my electric windows for a manual ones, and rhino lines ( or any other stuff like that ) to all interior . !

I was pretty close with Sandy... but the rust and the gasoline motor killed that deal.

I'm thinking that for me it would be:
2H with turbo (intercooled) running veggie oil (stock tank and an extra 90liters)
running into 2 1/2" custom exhaust
255/85r16 or 8.25r16 michelin tires (xzl? I can never remember which is which)
Center-mounted winch with line to front and rear running synthetic line
Dual batteries
h55f tranny
4.56 gears
ARB locker front/rear
snorkel
New A/C with A/C in the rear as well
Soft top from the B-pillar back (maybe.... maybe not, not sure)
lightweight Exo cage with low profile roof rack
better taillights (leds?)
better interior lighting (maybe two or three of George's LEDs)
iPod enabled stereo with component speakers in the doors and a sub in back
slightly trimmed rear rockers with some protection
swing out tire carrier
ambulance doors
rhinolined bottom
fresh paint on top, two tone
light brown tint on front windows with darker brown in back
on-board shower
on-board air (pulley driven better than 12v, but I don't care much) with a small storage tank
rear disc brakes
solar panel aux 12v
roof top tent w/ 12v fan
some sort of surfboard storage that works with rooftop tent
upgraded headlights
fog lights
driving lights
reverse lights
upgraded seats (all four)
roller drawer
Bullbar that is sorta like ARB, but a little better clearance/lower profile/lighter
uhf radio (and the license to use it)

I think that is about it. More or less.

Which isnt' tooooooo terribly far away.
Well. Ok. It's pretty far away :)

Sandy looked pretty damn cool to me from the Sandcruiser website. Is she still in service?

The $8k seems pretty reasonably but all said and done I'll have more into mine.

Truck cost me $2600 so there's my base.

Body parts for repair probably around $500 (i'll install)

Good used welder (somewhat shop duty) around $1200 (there goes thousands in labor : )

Good gunmetal paint job (I do the grunt work) $1200

SOA (looking for about 5 inches) $1200 in materials

35x12.5x15 Traxus Mudders on Rock Crawler Series 51 $997

Bumper steel (see my site) front and rear materials $250

Warn Winch 8275 $1250 (new)

Strip and Rino/Linex back of second seat and all floors $400-500

Make the rig convertable (above second seat and behind second doors below window level) with sliders and sealed $400-1500 (who knows)

Good desiel and 5-6 spead tranny swap $2000-4000

Custom sliders $50-100 in materials

Lights, mounts, stereo, etc $1000 (just misc stuff everyone wants)

Most of the prices here are averages of what I've bought or averages of what I've generally priced, for my total any variables I made I cut to the average price between them.
My total $11572 (aprox ofcourse).
