What is this on my starter, will it still work (1 Viewer)

Hey just bought this after my other took a crap. Everything is correct, but this cable. What is it? Will it still work because the other didn’t have it.

- Certain Modle Year land Cruisers have wire going from the ROCK AUTO Connector to the Ignition Coil

So if I were to install it and not plug it in to anything would it operate like normal?

Typically, that 'extra wire' provides a full 12v to the coil only when cranking, vs. the reduced (8 volts) the coil normally sees after going through a ballast resistor. If the truck starts just fine without it, it's not critical. It's not applicable to all years of trucks, IIRC.

Others chime in if I got this wrong.
