I have an 82 BJ-42 (3B) w/ no power steering, A/C, etc. Just a motor, tranny and t-case as it should be.

On the top/back of the alternator in the vac pump area there is a very small (1/16") tube in line where the larger vac line goes into the pump. I just discovered it while looking around and it has a dirt line on it like a tube was recently removed. What is this and did it have a line on it? Do I need to plug it?

TIA
Justin

it could have gone to a capilery (spelling??) gague, oil pressure?

that line on my bj60 is the vacum source for the 4wd switcing solenoids. Does your 42 have push button 4wd or is it operated by the xfer case lever?

If what I'm imagining is correct, there's a small "tube" coming off one of the larger fittings? It's for aligning the larger fitting, and is not itself a tube, rather it's a small rod that sticks into a small hole.
