In the accident above, did your trailer have electric brakes? If so, was it a swerve that caused this instead of braking then? Towing ANYTHING with ANY vehicle that does not have brakes you are much more likely to be in trouble in an emergency manuever.

Swerves are the worst because it is SO natural instead of just nailing the brakes and plowing into the back of someone BUT the rollover potential goes way way way WAY up!! You almost have to be willing to eat the back end of a bumper vs a swerve at hwy speeds. (And if your camper/trailer has brakes it will still be behind you or more likely)

Seriously though, nothing more than utility trailers with less than 3500lbs. :cheers:

Yes the trailer had good brakes on it. And it happened around 45 MPH. It was a minor steering correction that got it into the typical swerving fishtail. The moral of the story is triple check that the load is positioned right.
