Need to get more large cable ends but started cleaning up my power distribution. Was starting to feel self-conscious about opening hood with wire mess next to a cool power plant. Dual battery disconnect going in next week.

I saw that Flat nasty was for sale, and Hot Springs park is for sale too.

Added 30mm rear spacers to my OME 2771 springs the weekend before LCDC. Glad I did or this might have been worse:

Finished 4.88 gears in Sammy’s beast, brake master cylinder (Yes available from Toyota now, rebuild kit option also) on Mong’s 80, alt, timing, fixed driver window mount and driver mirror flop on Kramer’s 80, Evap, dryer, expansion on glen’s 80, and managed to get into my door just a little to start the week on Sunday at knocks with Tad and his 80. Painted the bottom side of Glen’s 40 will be putting his patina rain gutters and side on and painting the top next week. Went from flat black to Cygnus white Toyota 012 if I remember right. No pics. At this time.

Productive week now for rest, nope never, honey do patio expansion with digging and concrete work starting in the morning, should be a nice hot weekend for that. Guess all weeks can’t be what dreams are made of, working on cruisers!!!

Pulled the (incorrect) Gray wheels off the FJ40 and painted them satin black. Of course I scrubbed, washed and put protectant on the tires while they were off!

Took the head off of the HDJ81 again  - Coming back from the frozen high water mark trip in Feb, I assumed I blew a head gasket after upping boost to 28psi. I didn't diagnose, I just assumed and pulled the head. Once everything was buttoned up back in June, I started it up and immediately the cooling system was pressurizing just like before the head was pulled. I was pretty mad and started to rewind and recall all the steps I had taken to install the head. Instead of cancelling our Colorado trip, we decided to take our GX470 - it needed a few things done before the trip and that took all of my time. Eventually, I did a compression check and all cylinder were in the 460-480 range except for #6 which was around 420psi. I did a leak down test and could not come to any conclusion. I then pressurized the coolant system, let it sit for a couple hours, and rotated the crank from TDC to bottom of stroke and still had no drop is PSI. A cracked #6 cylinder is not common but is something that happens on these....
I pulled the head, cleaned the surface and it looked spotless. Head gasket looked fine. #6 bore looked a little funny - bunch or fresh rust spots mixed in with the cross hatching. I can't necessarily see a crack but I went ahead and ordered some Magnaflux dye penetrant to confirm my suspicion. Luckily, sleeves are available in Australia if I have to go that route. 2021 can't get here soon enough :)

Thumb down for a cracked cylinder wall and for 2020. Nothing goes right this year

is a cylinder sleeve on a 1HD something that can be done in a home garage or is that a pull it and take it to a machine shop thing?
