Since the cruiser is still down waiting for jdm parts and machine work, I decided to fix the headlight harness. The Jdm trucks originally had an h4 main headlight and where the North American market high beam is, an amber fog light was present. The headlights were replaced with North American market headlights before I bought the cruiser and the harness had been butchered to accept the 9005/9006 bulbs. So out with the hackery and in with the new.

Still finding little things on my punch list to finish up my 40. Decided to pull it out of the garage and wash it. It fired right up and ran great.

Ask not what your 4x4 can do for you - ask what can you do for your 4x4. So I did just that and noticed I had a slight crack in the brake line in the 80... new lines coming to an 80 near you soon.

So @Capone913 posted about my stolen winch on the local FB Toyota page. And someone mentioned they had been hanging onto one for 10 years that they never installed on a now sold 78 FJ40. He bought it used and was told it works but not for sure. So I took a gamble at the good price of $300. It's missing a bracket for the controller box and could use a good polish. Fingers crossed it works. I'll wait until I get my storage back to install it. (Oh and after I get a bumper.)

Several of you have seen my water system on my trailer. Basically a 5 gallon water cooler tank you can get at walmart, easy to move and replace, with a simple pump from walmart too. About $9 bucks....
Drinking Water Bottle Hand Pump for 5 Gallon Water Bottles ...

Well, I have the next step in the evolution and the best thing I have bought on amazon this year....

rechargeable battery, and we added a 8' hose so we can leave the tank in the front and have the pump over by our cooking area. Only issue with the initial testing was that I did not cut a breather in the cap of the water jug and it was so strong it was collapsing the tank!!!

As a follow-up to that pump, I asked Josh To design in AutoCAD and then 3-D print this stand so it will be able to be put wherever..... turned out great

Have not owned it for even 24 hours and Anna and I are digging in... timing belt and spark plugs are the first course of action.

We got to timing belt done, water pump replaced and most everything back together... however found that the radiator had a small leak , so wasn’t able to button it up. drained as much as a power steering fluid as we could and replaced, changed the rear differential fluid and transfer case fluid. Brake fluid is clear ... po just had it worked on. Also replaced all the spark plugs. It was good timing on the water pump as there was a good weep it appears.. EDIT. thanks to @CrowleyFJ40 pure destruction method of hammering the drain plug, was able to change out the front diff fluid and then put new rear pads on Sunday morning. Now we wait for the radiator and some other small items. Also will try to refinish the headlights soon.

Toyota calls for sealant on the thermostat housing using part number 08826-00100 1282B sealant. This is in a green box, and is about $50 a tube. Anyone have a partial of this laying in a drawer? Should say 1282B on the label.

We will see how long they last....

Not that it helps a whole ton, but don’t forget to coat them. Wax will provide some protection and I think there’s even another spray protection that is UV protectant. I can ask my buddy what he used on his if you haven’t done it yet...

nice work btw

This was not the 3m buff kit. You sanded them, cleaned, then sprayed with a film that you have to do a UV cure on.

Where does one buy that kit?
