What do you recommend for a good toolbox? (2 Viewers)

Maybe I'll stash my tool bag in a box! Stackable, durable, and doesn't get my tools wet

I've tried a number of different mobile tool boxes, steel, box with drawers, plastic. This is what has worked the best for me so far. Its long enough to hold a decent length pry bar. Enough volume for what I generally carry on the trail.

While wheeling it gets secured in the cargo area with ratchet tie down straps.

This summer I plan to build a drawer system to offer a safer way to secure tools and recovery items. Not sure what I'll use to organize tools inside the drawers. Ammo cans maybe?

Yes, the light, surplus style stock OEM tool bags that came with the 80 series. I bought 5 of them and they are organized by "style of tool" and that the logic is reasonable.

They are stout, they are functional, and they are Toyota. That for me--in a nutshell--are all of the important traits I look for in everything having to do with Land Cruisers.

I originally thought they would only be a "truck" bag. But they have been now my primary tool containers since I am not interested in a tall box style tool container for the small shop/shed location where I wrench at home.

I do my best work in the dirt....only place for real cruisers.

I have a small shop space and a large barn area that used to be for horses. I've tarped it in and have the cruiser there now. Shop space is a 20x20 room with a big bench and lots of storage for all of my cruiser s***.

What works good is a hard gun case. You can cut the foam for tools. Plus, you get some interesting looks when your truck is broke and people see you pulling out a gun case.

I have a 13X9 ridged side AWP tool bag from Lowes that works great for the selection of tools I carry....plus it fits perfectly in the Hanna Cargo Carrier along with a Scepter MFC or MWC

I go with Pelican cases...you can stick anything you want in them and if you use tool rolls...you can take out what you need when you need it.

Milwaukee or Makita cloth case/bag setup...

Packed up some tools for brothers honeymoon and it worked well and has a zipper top. I used the Milwaukee bag for tools, and a Makita bag for shooting gear/tools... Works well and even has shoulder straps! Guess you could also use the older metal Dewalt boxes as well if you can find them but the rattle would drive me NUTS.

i've been using an ammo can, the type used for blank 5.56 its a bit lower profile, has the rubber seal to keep it water proof and there's no worry of it coming open, the tools are either on strips or in bags, small plastic boxes inside. i ratchet it down with a cargo strap. haven't had any problems thus far, and it was free.

Sometime there is a plus to being a range NCOIC.

I like 94SRUNNER's setup. I just wish I didn't use my back seats as often as I do.

Maybe if I mounted something like that on the tailgate. Hmmmm... So many possibilities.
