What difference in HDJ80s? (1 Viewer)

Hey yall,

I am shopping online for an HDJ81 - with a 24valve 1HD-FT engine as an adventure car.

When shopping within this exporter I keep seeing a Landcruiser with a different body/grille compared to the normal HDJ81s I keep seeing.

Normal HDJ81s I am used to seeing:

Other more boxy shapes with the same 1hDT FT engine look like from the photos:

Any ideas if they had a face lift ? Is it the same vehicle? Any differences within the cabin suspension? etc It' almost as if they went more boxy back to the 60 series body styling

It's had an aftermarket body kit put on it to make it look like a 60 series.

Personally wouldn't touch it with a forty foot pole

I believe those are custom modified vehicles from Japan, done third party. To be honest, I follow Flex on Instagram and I thought it was photoshop. There is only one body style 80 series.

interesting but i wouldnt touch that, it can be hard to find parts for the diesel trucks much less for the body kit and whatever other parts were changed to make that kit work

It's had an aftermarket body kit put on it to make it look like a 60 series.

I seem to recall someone on here claiming to have seen their work and that it was more Bondo than body kit or metalwork.
