I got the new head unit installed and verified function. My stupid JBL Basspro SL still doesn't fire up. It's 3 stinking wires! (well 5 if you count rca). I'll verify voltage tonight.
Grrr.

Double check the remote wire is seeing 12v.

Some decks have a wire that looks like a remote but aren't and as such won't trigger the amp.

Replaced motor mounts. I was shocked how rough looking they were. Also installed a 2” Ironman nitro kit. Pretty pleased so far.

I have to go "rescue" my son's pickup bed trailer from a friend's place because the hitch has been broken off.

I tried out something tonight that I wasn't sure would work.

I have a 3000W pure sine wave inverter and it will run my grinders, a cutoff saw, and even my buzz box welder on the light setting!
Set throttle at 2200 RPM and it provides a constant 14.5 V.

I will throw all the stuff I need on the hitch rack and go grab the trailer some time this week.

I promise a couple pictures.
Well, I got it recovered.

Welds are NOT pretty. My little welder is not heavy enough to melt 1/4" steel. However, it was enough to get it home.

Felt pretty good that I could do it all from my LC

I have had to make due with an under powered welder before. A cool trick I learned is using a propane torch to put some extra heat into the steel. It actually makes a noticeable difference when welding with an underpowered welder.

Preheat the weld for 5 or so minutes than keep the torch running on the weld with 1 hand while running the gun with the other hand. It worked great for me when I was using Flux cored wire but it might cause problems with shielding gas.

I want a 80 series. But I don’t have one.

@Dusten Thanks. I got it working tonight. I started by checking fuses and double checking my harness assembly. Oddly enough (or not), I think it was the 15amp blade fuse on the sub itself not being seated properly that was the issue.
If I have to take the dash apart on my rig again, I think I'll sell the thing instead. What a p.i.t.a!

I'm rebuilding my front diffs :S .... I am so surprised on how much the 80's can drive with punishment and worn out parts ...

Truly lovely cars. ...

With a friend, we decided to build our own awning, we started with his car first (its a Jeep :p ) then we build another one after we do some trial and errors.

We need another material the one we choose is too thick / cumbersome and black. The arms and extension are getting totally redesigned.

Overall an extremely pleasant experience and a lot learned.
