Intercooler finished. For now I just raised the back of the hood up about .5" to allow air to flow out and over the intercooler, I will fab a steel scoop for it soon

Drove my truck 600 miles round trip today;

1986 Bj73
3B
Turbo kit and tmic
2.5" exhaust

First 300 miles average 16.7 MPG @ 76 MPH
Return 300 Miles averaged 18.1 MPG @ 65 MPH Average Speed

How does that compare to averages by other users?

I get close to 16 MPG at ~65 mph pulling my Kimberley Kamper.

Trailer-less at the same speed I get close to 20 MPG.

13BT, adjustable boost set at ~14 PSI, 5speed, 4.11 gears, 285/75/16 tires. at 65 in 5th gear the engine is running ~2,550 RPM.

I got similar mileage to Dan in my ~5,000 mile cross country trip in my BJ74. Same specs, but with OEM boost. 20-22mpg.

Incredible results with a rebuilt H55F and BF1A transfer case from Georg at Valley Hybrids. @orangefj45 He literally built both with his eyes closed. Epic.

Of course all new OEM clutch components as well.

The man is a wizard. ... "sleeve of wizard!"

Thanks to The Valley Hybrids team for letting me invade their world for the last 6 days.

Made new shackles. 200mm total length, eye to eye was 140mm, made from 10mm x 50mm flat bar steel.

Painted and installed today, raised both front and rear by 55mm. Took it for a drive to test and decided while it made the rear smoother, I didn't like the way the front swayed with the extra height so spent the next hour removing the front shackles only to strip the thread from one of the bolts... Another hour spent on the lathe to turn a new bolt and finally have the old shackles back on the front. Productive night!

What boost controller are you using Dan?

truck was running warm when holding 2800 rpms or so for any amount of time. I ordered a new T-Stat and when I pulled the housing there was no T-Stat in it, guess that answered a question. The T-State came with a o-ring seal for the diameter of the Stat so I put it on and bolted the housing down, snap lol. I figured it out that there is not an o-ring seal for these so welded up the cover, made a gasket and put it back together. Will hwy test tomorrow for temp fluctuations at higher rpm's

I do not. It was on the truck when I got it. There may be some paperwork in the glove box. I'll look

I don't know anything about boost controllers, but had this unit saved in my folder. I probably pulled this off of someone else's thread or info I found here. Would consider other options especially if there's a tried and true unit already happily providing 14psi of boost to the legendary CruiserDan's 74!

Fireball, I have a Hallman on my BJ74 and HDJ81. A bunch of us here are running them.. probably everyone you wheeled with in Van when you picked up your 74 had one. No problems.

Currently running 14 psi on the 74, 16 on the 81.

Welcome to Hallman Boost Controllers

Where is your source to buy in Vancouver?

I just tagged along when G+S Sheldon ordered a few. I'm pretty sure they came from the US.... I see on amazon.ca they're a retarded $300 - Amazon.com they're US $88
@Greg_B or @70sguy will likely remember
