I think the axles used on the "Autana" and "VX" (80 series in Venezuela) are Dana 44's. I believe everything else is Toyota. You can also get a manual transmission with the petrol motors.

If you really want to drool, check out the Cruiser selection here:

Thats it! I'm moving to Ecuador and getting a 70 series!

Front axle is Toyota, rear axle is Dana 60.

Stop it already
I just got back from Costa Rica and was drooling the whole time.
Hilux, Troopies (diesels)
Most impressed with the Hyundai grand saloon and Toyota Hiace.
15 passenger diesel minibuses with stainless steel racks (bad ass people movers)

Exiled,

I think that used to be the case. On the new ones they use all Toyota parts. Except fora few things, like driveshafts, which are made in Venezuela.

Cava refrigeradora - rough translation = wine cellar? Sounds good to me!

Thats true, they probably mean the center console fridge. I would love one of those, just having a cold one under my arm is cool enough.

I don't know why all the drool over the 70 series, the 80 series is bar far the best!

I don't know if this is relevant... but back in '94 when I got my '94... I have some foggy memory of stickers on new Land Cruisers that said like "90% assembled in Japan" which might mean emmisions thingamabobs were added when it got to the U.S.. I dunno.... I might just be crazy.

I'm confused, so if we went to Ecuador we could buy a brand new 80? Would they be street legal in the US?
