Hey,
There is a 1981 60-Series High Roof with an FJ62 VIN number on the body and fame... I know, strange.
- Single round headlights...
- Fj60 interior...
- 3F motor/4-speed manual...
- imported from Costa Rica...
I saw an ad for a similar 60-series, except this one is a 1985 "Fj62" claiming, "only in a few countries in the world you can find FJ62s from this year and with round headlights."

That ad can be seen here: 1985 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER FJ62 - Barrett-Jackson Auction Company - World's Greatest Collector Car Auctions - https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1985-TOYOTA-LAND-CRUISER-FJ62-250562

- I am curious, what years were round headlight "fj62s" available, and in countries were they available?
- Was the 1981 "fj62" incorrectly labeled during the import process, and it could actually be 1985?
- Or was this thing Frankensteined together?

Thanks!

Im not saying the truck is a sham, but it is not from 1981…

My logic being: Isn’t the 3f from 1985?

Does anyone know if there is such thing as an ‘fj61’?
I know there are Hj61s that have the round headlights before they went to square.

Maybe this is a similar case?

The earliest 62 is from 11/1984 for MY 1985. And yes, came with round lights, high roof or standard roof.

The frame number above indicates that the truck was a CKD (complete knock-down kit) as the UNID # is for CKD identification after it leaves the factory and is crated for assembly in South America.

FJ61 was for the Japanese market.

Thank you, this added some clarity and would make sense. Smart guy here.
